[REPOST] The Worst Songs & Albums Of 2022
Nasty business.
Before I started this music blog, I created a website each year for my favorite songs, albums, EPs, and other things from each year, complete with original graphics and complete descriptions for each piece of music. I figured it was time to move all of those lists and such to this website now that I use it much more frequently. This was my original list of my least favorite songs and albums of 2022, first published on January 13th, 2023. As always, a link to every track and record is included with each entry.

ORIGINAL FOREWARD: It wouldn't be a year end list without reviewing some of the biggest stinkers that came out in 2022. Here's 5 songs and 5 albums I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemies.
Worst 5 Songs Of 2022
I nearly forgot to include a BLACKPINK song on this list because they’re new record is that forgettable. I’ll mention “Pink Venom” though as it’s the worst of an album that sadly furthers a once-promising group’s descent into generic hell. LISTEN
People who have been saying Lizzo is just a more popular Meghan Trainor were vindicated the moment “Grrrls” dropped. It’s such a fake attempt at female empowerment, complete with a misuse of Beastie Boys’ “Girls” and some controversy over some of the apparently derogatory language she used. Where my girls at? Far away from this mess. LISTEN
Jack’s latest album emulates Drake in the fact that it’s lazy playlist filler, but “Churchill Downs” takes it to a new level by actually adding Drake onto the track. The beat might as well not exist while Jack and Drake’s lyrics are nearly as forgettable. And it goes on forever too! No one should subject themselves to this dreck for five whole minutes. LISTEN
The one thing that could make MGK’s lousy brand of pop punk worse is attempting a rap crossover, and let Lil Wayne be the one to make that dream come true. No clue who thought having him sing here was a good idea, but the song is mercifully short for how repetitive it is. LISTEN
The lasting effects Olivia Rodrigo has had on the music industry have culminated (so far) on “Twinkle Twinkle”, a song so basic and cringey it’s no wonder it became a Tik Tok hit. I almost wanted to give a song that goes “Twinkle twinkle little bitch” the benefit of the doubt, but Leah Kate gives me no reason to. LISTEN
Worst 5 Albums Of 2022
More disappointing than outright bad, I nevertheless had to throw Oxy Music on this list. Alex’s music has become very sterile, and the further away he gets from the characters he used to play, the more forgettable his brand of cheap-sounding indie rock gets. LISTEN

Honestly, Nevermind is the most Drake album title that could exist. It’s such a good summation of the lame and tired Drake we’ve been subjected to for a while now, and it’ll put you to sleep with how in-the-background the whole album feels, no matter how good “Sticky” may be. LISTEN
Even the biggest Kim Petras sluts out there have to admit this is the worst thing she’s ever released. Repetitive and unfunny, it’s a sad misfire for an artist who otherwise has killed it this far into her career. LISTEN
Once again, MGK has seen fit to further bastardize a genre that has been plenty bastardized since Bush left the Oval Office. The redeeming qualities of mainstream sellout are few and far between, and in fact they are so far between I can’t find any. From the bad songwriting to the worse singing to the laziest emulations of already lazy punk instrumentals, there’s no better choice for the worst album of 2022 than MGK’s latest. Seriously, I cannot stress how bad of a singer he is. LISTEN
