10 Albums To Listen To In April 2025
This month promises some of my most anticipated releases of the year.
Happy egg month! There’s no shortage of fantastic new albums coming out in April of 2025, so I’ve gathered ten of them in this article that you should check out once they drop, along with a sample of what to expect from each record. Happy listening and don’t forget to subscribe!
DJ Koze - Music Can Hear Us (Apr 4)
Seven years after giving us Knock Knock and its crown jewel “Pick Up”, the crafty German producer returns with an album that’s sure to feature more twists and turns than any other electronic album this year.
Black Country, New Road - Forever Howlong (Apr 4)
BCNR reached some soaring post-rock heights on their first few LPs, but that was with singer Isaac Wood still a member of the band. His departure marked a new era for the now-six person band, but the first few singles hint at something that’s just as emotionally impactful as what came before.
Djo - The Crux (Apr 4)
My favorite Stranger Things character’s musical alter ego has definitely been influenced by the 80’s-inspired show, and those inspirations took his music to new levels. The first couple singles for Joe Keery’s latest are lyrically more up front about failed romance than the murky tales he told on 2022’s DECIDE, but with plenty of synth intrigue with the instrumentals.
Sleigh Bells - Bunky Becky Birthday Boy (Apr 4)
The shrill, punky noise rock hooks that Sleigh Bells have been delivering for years are back, with what’s one of my favorite album titles of the year so far.
Bon Iver - SABLE,fABLE (Apr 11)
Last year’s SABLE, EP heralded the full return of the Justin Vernon project after six years in the wilderness. He’s returned to said wilderness with the early singles, sounding more organic and similar to 2011’s Bon Iver, Bon Iver than he has in years.
Röyksopp - True Electric (Apr 11)
Years ago, I fell in love with Röyksopp when their song “Remind Me” was featured in an iconic Geico commercial. Have I kept up with the band much since then? No. But does that boyhood love make me interested in their latest? Yes.
Tunde Adebimpe - Thee Black Boltz (Apr 18)
There’s been rumblings of a return from 2000’s indie staple TV on the Radio in recent years, but in the meantime, bandleader Tunde Adebimpe will release his first ever solo album this month.
Julien Baker & Torres - Send a Prayer My Way (Apr 18)
One boygenius member has already dropped a solo album this year, so why not add a second? Julien Baker’s latest is a collab with rising country-adjacent star Torres. Will Phoebe Bridgers make it 3 for 3 in boygenius solo albums this year?
Ghost - Skeletá (Apr 25)
No act in history has melded satanic metal with popular stylings as well as Ghost has. That combo has made them international stars, but can they up the ante on Skeletá, their highly anticipated 6th LP? Lead single “Satanized” was fine, but it left me wanting more, so here’s hoping the full album delivers.
Self Esteem - A Complicated Woman (Apr 25)
Rebecca Taylor is exactly what her new album is titled, a multi-talented singer who's dabbled in acting on stage in addition to tackling the world's problems in her music. No doubt there will be plenty of variety to go around here, whether it's the gospel-inspired lead single below or the track about 69ing.
Thanks for reading! Let me know if you listen to any of these and if you liked/disliked them. Make sure to keep an eye out for my reviews of these albums here as well!
